THE STORY

Minimoon Experience.

One afternoon a very enthusiastic lady, called Sarah, based in Auckland called me on my mobil phone, she asked me, “ I’m not sure if you can help me?”…… she explained her predicament, one that many engaged couples were facing with the uncertainty of Covid 19 epidemic, still running riot all over the world. I adore that question; “of course I can help you”, I said. It turned out this inquiry was slightly different as the groom, Ross, was completely in the dark with what Sarah was about to undertake, yet he was a crucial part of the plan. Cutting a long story shorter, Sarah and I enjoyed a good old English girl yarn (Chat) and over no more that 3 months had a plan in place.

The custom package she decided on was based around the Elopement Package. The starting point was a two night stay in the tree canopy accommodation which looks over the iconic Split Apple Rock at Towers Bay. The location known for its huge rock form aptly named Split Apple Rock, as well as for its gold and black sand, caves and glow worms, beautiful birdsong and even the Little Blue Penguins, is a restful start for preparation. The micro event, included a gorgeous scenic cruise into the Abel Tasman on the Abel Tasman Charter boat, who also arranged the Tasty Tasman catered celebration picnic and their legal vows we’re witnessed by me of course and our photographer Jess and videographer, Ray.

When they arrived at Moonraker House, I could see the confusion on Ross’s face and I struggled to keep my month shut, in fear of saying the wrong thing. Sarah laughed and said “He knows! but doesn’t know any detail”. The look of confusion was a breath of fresh air to me, as I couldn’t see any doubt in his eys, just excitement and confusion. We slowly rolled out the plan, so not to over whelm him. We had planned ALOT!

The ceremony was held at the Tonga Arches, which is rarely interrupted by other visitors due to its boat only access. The tide was rising which added to the excitement, as the natural cathedral lapped in the smooth white waves. The ceremony, written by me was lovely. It was based on their love of wine and a tradition of enjoying a block buster movie on a friday night, throughout their courtship. From their we returned to the charter and tucked into a beautiful fresh picnic and cut the cute little elopement cake custom made for the Dream Maker couples before heading further north to a stunning vintage accommodation called Meadowbank Homestead, over looking the peoples beach at Awaroa. This is where we left Sarah and Ross, over the moon with their day, check out this interview

I can’t tell you how blessed i feel when we see our couples so delighted with all the effort we put in to create a unique custom celebration.

Thank you Sarah & Tina for being so wonderful to work with and we know you enjoyed your weddingmoon in the Abel Tasman and returned to Moonraker Guest House to reflect for another couple of days, before returning to reality. Only 10 days later Auckland went into level 3 lock down and the rest of New Zealand level 2. This is why we assure our couples that their Dream Maker NZ event is transferable if disrupted by this horrid pandemic.

I also thank my team, Jess, Ray, Rod, Emma, Wendy, Amber, Nicola for being such an awesome team, your ease and skills truely did make Sarah and Rosses dreams come true.

Credits to our wonderful Jess for these stunning images and Ray for images and video, Peter for the drone footage.
