Baby-Boomer Elopement
Baby-Boomer Elopement experience
The Story
Michael and Martina came to New Zealand because they had heard it was an easy place to get married, with only three days required in the country before being allowed a legal ceremony. The choice back home in Germany was very limited and as an older couple, they just wanted to celebrate as a couple capturing an epic Kiwi experience and lots of fun memories.
We planned to pick them up first thing in the morning from their accommodation at Marahau the last township at the entrance of the Abel Tasman National park. From there we took them out on our scenic charter boat Sealimosuines for a half day elopement experience. They selected Adele Island from the list of ideal golden beaches I could recommend and that they could be married on with our Department of Conservation permits.
There are some things you simply can not arrange and on this occasion our couple where enjoying their celebration picnic when a beautiful and bold New Zealand robin graced their table, the entertaining encounter really added to that special days. Our couple named him Alfred the Robin.

An unexpected wedding graced the celebration table during an intimate elopement feast picnic. The German couple used to only ever seeing a European red breasted robin were fascinated by the personality similarities and cheekiness of the bird and named him Alfred, which I think suited him very well.
